“Cynsifen” is the name under which Seiffen was mentioned in a document for the very first time in 1324. The name bears witness to the city's mining history: “Czyn Syffen” means “leaching tin”. The tin in the Ore Mountains had been discovered by Cistercian Monks and was quarried in mines.
The candle arch “Cynsifen” shows the hard work in the mines, but beyond that also tells the story of Seiffen village after the days of mining had passed. With their turned and carved wood products, the Ore Mountain people started the great success story of wooden toys and handcraft from the region. The Cynsifen arch portrays Seiffen as the center of this tradition is in a beautiful way. You find other landmarks of Seiffen culture in the detailed setting as well. The church of Seiffen overlooks the scenery in the background. Die miners' parade with the local costume children group „Living Toys” passes by in the foreground.
The parade is only one of several moveable elements, that are operated mechanically.
This exceptional piece of art is limited to a total edition of 1000 pieces.
