“Cynsifen” is the name under which Seiffen was mentioned in a document for the very first time in 1324. The name bears witness to the city's mining history: “Czyn Syffen” means “leaching tin”. The tin in the Ore Mountains had been discovered by Cistercian Monks and was quarried in mines.

The candle arch “Cynsifen” shows the hard work in the mines, but beyond that also tells the story of Seiffen village after the days of mining had passed. With their turned and carved wood products, the Ore Mountain people started the great success story of wooden toys and handcraft from the region. The Cynsifen arch portrays Seiffen as the center of this tradition is in a beautiful way. You find other landmarks of Seiffen culture in the detailed setting as well.
