Volkskunstwerkstatt Romy Thiel

Romy Thiel Volkskunstwerkstatt (Folk Art Workshop) in Deutschneudorf is now being run by the third generation of the family, where all products are still made and painted using traditional Ore Mountain craftsmanship. In addition to producing Christmas pyramids and candle arches, the small workshop is especially known for its handmade Thiel figurines. These lovingly crafted miniatures, with their charming faces and detailed designs, have become highly sought-after collector's items. Romy Thiel currently employs eight people who meticulously create these tasteful decorations. There are now more than 200 different Thiel figurines available. Only local woods are used in production. The various miniatures can be combined with matching trees, animals, and other decorative elements.

With the wide selection of Thiel figurines, everyone can find the perfect piece for their home. In addition to seasonal miniatures, there are numerous figurines suitable for year-round display, such as the "Forester", the "Baker's Children", and the "Forester with Dog." One particularly popular series is the "Romy Thiel Winter Children", who come with a real little cloth scarf and a brown pointed hat, enjoying all sorts of fun in the snow. When they are not busy throwing snowballs, the Winter Children also love winter sports. The "Winter Child with Snowboard" looks a little unsteady as he stands on the board with his arms folded. The three-part Winter Child Ice Hockey set is full of action: while one friend is just getting up from a fall, the other two are fighting for the puck on speeding blades.

Another popular series is Romy Thiel's "Lantern Children", in which the children of the two-piece sets are ready for the lantern procession with thick boots and caps. In the colored version, the lanterns almost seem to glow by themselves due to the yellow paint. The alternating red and blue winter clothes of the miniatures create a colorful picture against a cold winter night. The figures are also available in a natural wood color.
