In the Uhlig family the making of turned and carved handicraft already has a long tradition. The decision to apply themselves to the beloved hobby completely led to the founding of the family business “DWU - Drechselwerkstatt (turning workshop) Uhlig”. The quaint smoking gnomes have been received so enthusiastically by the customers, that soon the company grew and extended their product range more and more.

All smokers from the turning workshop Uhlig are manufactured out of local wood in Aue in the Ore Mountains. For example they use pine, ash or beech. The individual vein of the wood makes beautiful design effects and gives the figurines a special natural charm. Other characteristic features of the Uhlig gnomes are their fluffy hair and beards in different color shades.
