List of products by brand Drechslerei Breitfeld

If you have ever been to the famous Annaberg Christmas market, you have certainly seen the handcrafted figurines and woodturnings of the Drechslerei (wood turnery) Breitfeld, which is situated there. The typical Breitfeld signature can be seen especially in the traditional costume figures from the Erzgebirge (ore mountains). Jens Breitfeld was already committed to the continuation of Erzgebirge folk art at the age of 25 by founding his small woodturning shop in Annaberg in 1984. The history of the Erzgebirge inspired Breitfeld to produce traditional Christmas items, ranging from traditional costume figures and pyramids to candle arches and incense burners. Breitfeld turnery offers a gift idea for every budget and delights every collector with a genuine piece of traditional Erzgebirge craftsmanship.

Breitfeld traditional costume figures and angels

The high-quality miner figurines are made according to historical models. In the Breitfeld turnery, figurines with traditional costumes are made true to detail, based on the uniforms of Saxon miners. The "Miner Chief Smelteries Administrator" with saber and golden decorated uniform was created after a pattern from 1768. The symbol of hammer and iron on his hat tells about the history of mining in the Saxon region. The "Mineworker" as well as the "Chief Mining Administrator" from 1719 have costumes in the style of a baroque parade dress under August the Strong. They shine not only with tight posture, but also with golden cufflinks.

The protecting angel of light may not be missing in the assortment of historical Erzgebirge art, of course. The traditional Erzgebirge angel with red wings and white robe brings light into the darkness on his two candle holders. The miner in historical costume at his side also proudly carries his two candles. The hand-painted figures are traditionally bought as a pair and have a height of 30 cm.
